CROP Walk

Church World Service / CROP WALK
October 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M.

Since the end of World War II Church World Services (CWS) has been meeting the emergency food needs of people facing political and natural disasters in the United States and around the world.

CWS is a cooperative ministry of 36 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican denominations that now provide sustainable self-help and development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance in more than 80 countries.

The CROP Walk...

  • Dramatizes the Third World struggle to find potable water and glean food each day by having participants walk several kilometers in an afternoon.

  • Asks the First World to learn about issues relating to hunger and homelessness, and to contribute financial aid toward alleviating suffering and the funding of long term solutions to the problems through collecting pledges.

How can I help?

  • Collect pledges and walk with us.

  • Volunteers to assist with the Calvin Hall set-up arrangements, coordinate logistics, and coordinate the preparation of after walk meal.

  • Pray for the safety and success of the walk.

  • Write a check to CWS/CROP Walk, put WEST/WALK on the memo line of your check) and send it to Westminster Church, 17567 Hubbell, Detroit, 48235.
